Panorama Tour

The two-week Panorama Tour is the highlight for those who have already made at least a one week tour.  Depending on weather and trail conditions you will experience a dream tour, one that will take you to the limits of your capabilities. In most cases, overnighting in a tent cannot be avoided, but we try to limit this to one night only.  Because of the long duration of the tour it is necessary to make two depot stops.  This will allow you the opportunity to deposit perhaps a change of clothes, etc.

Especially in the mountains the demands on the participants are often very high because the sledges are heavily loaded and difficult to control.  Long climbs and descents require not only fitness but also good sledging techniques combined with good teamwork of the Mushers and dogs.  On these tours, confidence in the dogs’ capabilities, correct handling and a sympathetic understanding of their needs is extremely important.

The passages in the Swedish mountains

The first tour begins at the Sledge Dog Center, then via the area where the boarders of Sweden, Finnland and Norway meet and on to Nikkaluokta, with final transfer back to Äkäskero.
The second tour starts in Nikkaluokta –  you will still fly into Äkäskero first and then have to transfer –  and goes south via Kungsleden to Kvikkjokk and from there over the Padjelanta and Norway, returning to Nikkaluokta, including an excursion into the Sarek.
Due to popular demand, the third tour corresponds to the second tour.
All three tours are each about 650 km long and correspondingly demanding.

Out of consideration not only to the other participants but also to the dogs and to nature, we ask that you book this tour only if you have actually taken part in a one week tour before.  If you have any doubts please contact us in advance before you book your holidays.
