Our team in Äkäskero will ensure that you are provided with the necessary specialized equipment needed for your activities. For use during your tour we provide the following items:
Warm anorak or Down jacket
Second-skin trousers (over trousers)
Warm winter boots
Warm second-skin Gloves (over Mittens)
Warm fur hats
Sleeping bags

For the tour itself you should include a few necessary items but, at the same time, make sure your total luggage does not exceed 6 Kg. The dogs must pull not only the equipment and food, but also the sledge and you – so it is important to keep weight as low as possible.
The following list of items has proven to be a good choice (the items in bold lettering, are available at our Lodge, in good quality and reasonably priced:
Thermos bottle; any necessary medication; for those who wear glasses we recommend contact lenses; a pair of thin and a pair of thick finger gloves; thermal underwear (wool); woollen socks; neck warmer; toilet bag with contents, a small head torch including batteries; a small camera, chemical pocket ‘hand warmer’
Additionally, from March on, sunscreen and sunglasses should also be included.
